Metrobank scholarships offered Siquijodnon students
Superior students of Siquijor may receive scholarships of P 35,000 a semester from Metrobank for studies at Silliman University next year. The scholarships are open for any deserving student of Silliman University who majors in engineering or science except pre-medicine and allied health courses.
Called ACCESS, an acronym for Assistance for Completion of College Education for Superior Students, the scholarship program was started in 1995 and discontinued last year by Metrobank Foundation, Inc. They have now repackaged the scholarship and offer it at 16 universities, including Silliman, for the 2002-2003 school year.
Ten continuing students are in the program at Silliman. Two new slots are open for next year.
If engineering or science students do not take advantage of the scholarship, then it is opened up for business students.
Siquijodnon Christian Gold Calibo got a scholarship from the program and graduaded cum laude in 1999. He placed 17th in the nation on the CPA licensure examination.
